Fishermen Reviews

from people who have experienced bentley fishery.

Martin Howe says:

Hi John, Just got back from your place and arrived in south yorkshire around 3:30pm, missed all the traffic thank god. Anyway thanks for having us this week we all really enjoyed it, our angling skills were really tested but as you know this is what we like.

I think we did well considering it was our first trip down, I would again like to add that the website and short video does not deceive at all, Bentley is what it says and shows (stunning) and in a few years will become one of the top long session waters in the south if not the country, keep it going mate.

I have attached a few of my photos, but will get Lee's photos at a later date as the better one's are on John's camera and won't see him until the BCAC final later in the month.

I (Jamie Newman) was fishing the paddocks swim 2 at Bentley fishery, at 8.45am on saturday, february 26th after a hard friday night of rain one of my rods roared off producing a stunning big plated mirror carp weighing 23lb on the mark. This was caught on Mainline, The cell 15mm single boilie with a 4 inch hook length of Korda stiff coated braid an size 8 korda wide gape hook, with only a few free offerings of boilies. Magic....

Magicbus3000 says:

I've been fishing this venue for 4 seasons and have banked 6 different 20's to 26lb 12oz. This isn't an easy fishery, but it isn't rock hard either. All the swims are known to produce fish, I've fished them all. As for most productive times, early morning and dusk seem to be the best, but, I frequently encounter that 4 p.m. seems to be afternoon feeding time, and runs can come quiclky between 4 & 7 pm. There is no 'magic bait' or rig for this venue as the fish will eat anything. Have had 20's on maggots, maize, corn, pellets and boilies. PVA stick methods work very well with a fishmeal based mix. Bank craft is a must if you want results, showing fish, fizzing, and marginal bushes are things to look out for if you want to bank a biggun.

The owner John has put a lot of hard work into this venue, silvers and bream have been removed, and stunning new carp have been stocked over the last 6 years, and all the fish are in terrific condition. There maybe 3 or 4 fish that have now broken the 30lb barrier by now and there are plenty of mid to upper doubles, 17 known 20's but many of the carp have yet to see the bank. The big common is a target of mine at the moment, stunning fish yet to be caught, and the chestnut mirror is still elusive to all!!
